My Approach to Personal Training
I’m applying more than 10 years of experience as a sports coach to personal training, and I have worked with people aged 3 to 82, from unfit beginners to taking people to international races – so I have enough experience to take on all sorts of clients. Regardless of age, ability or fitness, there are three really important things that have to run through training.
I’ll push you hard when you need it, but in a positive way, not by standing over you and yelling. The positive, fun, social atmosphere and the progress you are making will be your motivation!
- It is allowed to be fun! When an athlete stops enjoying their training, it is a worrying sign, as it can damage their motivation to train hard, and can be a sign of over-training or doing too much. The same applies to personal training, so if you enjoy what we do, you are more likely to get success – hence fun is important.
- It should be social! Some people can go out and do their training by themselves, but generally we are social animals, who like company. I am friendly and engaging, so that is one nice person for you to train with, and I encourage you to share your sessions with your friends. You can also augment your training by joining in with the social runs with the Cholsey Joggers
- It should make you feel proud! Often sport can be a competitive thing, which can turn some people off the idea, but I want you to compete with yourself, keep improving your abilities over time, and progressing towards your goals. Regular sessions with me will gradually build on skills and fitness that you have developed, so you achieve more and more, and it becomes pride that motivates you further.
