Intermediates - Club Support
Congratulations! You've learnt the basics of rollerskiing, and now you want to take the next step. But what will that be?
I love rollerskiing and cross country skiing, because it is a sport for everyone, and you can enjoy it in all sorts of ways:
- Come along to club sessions for some fun and fitness - details here...
- Get your own equipment, and go for a ski any time you fancy - I recommend the Rollerski Co... and I am happy to help you choose something suitable.
- Try a rollerski race! These are suitable for all abilities and speeds, and are also a great social event. You can find out when the next ones are on the Calendar, and you can read about all that you need to know on the Your First Race page...
- Plan your first ski marathon?
- Train hard - if you want to join the High Performance group, then you you have to do is be crazy enough! - we'll coach you to do the rest.
What do you need to do?
To improve in the sport, what you now need to do is rollerski! During the beginner courses, we start to fill in the "Knowledge Gap" between what you arrive on your first day knowing, and what you need to know. But that doesn't mean that at this stage we expect you to be perfect! - just because the coach has told you to try to do something, doesn't mean that you will instantly be able to do it all. Club sessions are a great place to practice your technique, as well as learn loads from both the coaches and from other club members.
For some people the main challenge is strength or fitness, and for others it may be the technique. Club sessions will help you develop all of the abilities that you will need to really enjoy the sport - and you'll be doing it with lovely people!
