Links

Here are a number of links which I recommend. It is not aimed at being a complete listing, but instead of curated selection that I often make use of. Can you suggest any others that should be on here? - e-mail flic@thamesvalleyendurance.com if you do.

My Partners

The Rollerski Co

The Rollerski Co was created to get people into rollerskiing. Established in 2005, they have a growing programme of rollerski instruction and cross-country skiing, and a well stocked rollerski shop.

Felicity says... "This is the best place to go to get all the equipment that you need, and also high quality instruction. All rollerskis have been extensively tested by Iain and his team, and the service is excellent."

Totally Nordic

Totally Nordic is run by Alan Eason, British National Cross Country Ski Team member, who is one of the UK's top cross country ski instructors. Alan is also a Nordic Tutor & level 4 instructor for Snowsport England & holds SSE, BASI & APSI instructor qualifications. Alan has been racing internationally for over ten years & represented Great Britain at two World Championships and over 100 FIS events.

Totally Nordic offers cross-country, telemark, biathlon and ski touring instruction and holidays at world-class nordic training facilities across central Europe, Norway, Sweden, Finland & Australia.

Felicity says... "Alan is my coach, so that should mean something! His coaching is excellent, and going to ski marathons is great as he waxes skis to run very fast - a nice thing to know when you are standing on the start-line with 40km of trails in front of you."

British Nordic Development Squad

Do you have the determination to cross country ski for your country? This facilitates the long-term athlete development pathway to take young athletes (10-18) from club level to international competitions.

Felicity says... "This is a great organisation which helps develop some awesome and determined young athletes. I aspire to help them with their coaching, and am always looking for potential new sources of funding for them."

Other Clubs

Greater London Rollerski Club - grown from a small start in Hyde Park more than 10 years ago, it is now spreading across London. I manage this club for Iain Ballentine, as well as running this club, and we have reciprocal membership.
London Region Nordic Ski Club - organises many of the races in the London area.
Cambridge Rollerski Club - started by Mantas Strolia (Lithuanian Olympian) and offers excellent coaching and skiing on the guided busway in Cambridgeshire.
Huntly Nordic Ski Club - a great club in Aberdeenshire, particularly noted for developing Olympic athletes.
Cairngorm Biathlon & Nordic Ski Club - a great club near Aviemore, which also has the only place in the UK to rollerski and shoot a biathlon rifle.

Governing Bodies & National Organisations

Snowsport England - the governing body for snowsports in England.
Go Ski Go Board - the portal that Snowsport England uses to advertise opportunities for skiing courses and sessions all over the country.
Snowsport Scotland - the governing body for snowsports in Scotland.
British Ski & Snowboard - the governing body to support the British Team at the World Championships and Olympics Games - because we need to combine the Home Nations for this.
British Biathlon Union - the governing body of biathlon (cross country skiing and shooting) in the UK, which is primarily there for selection of the Olympic and World Champs teams.
British Rollerski Series - Events in the British Rollerski Series are posted here, but there is also a more comprehensive listing of events on the Events Calendar.

Coaching Resources

Coaching Sports Today by Mike Davenport - I always find Mike's blog interesting and inspiring, and I've learnt a lot about coaching from reading them over the years.
